Korean Consonants


First, let's learn about Hangul consonants!


Including complex consonants, Hangul has the following consonants:


ㄱ, ㄲ, ㄴ, ㄷ, ㄸ, ㄹ, ㅁ, ㅂ, ㅃ,

ㅅ, ㅆ, ㅇ, ㅈ, ㅉ, ㅊ, ㅋ, ㅌ, ㅎ


There are a total of 19 characters.


The order of basic Hangul consonants is

ㄱ, ㄴ, ㄷ, ㄹ, ㅁ, ㅂ, ㅅ, ㅇ, ㅈ, ㅊ, ㅋ, ㅍ, ㅎ.

These 14 consonants are basic.


And if you write the basic consonants side by side twice, they become complex consonants.

Complex consonants include

  ㄲ, ㄸ, ㅃ, ㅆ, ㅉ.


Hangul Consonants and Vowels [Vowels]

Korean Vowels


Hangul vowels consist of 10 basic vowels and 11 double vowels,
totaling 21.


The order of the basic Hangul vowels is

ㅏ, ㅑ, ㅓ, ㅕ, ㅗ, ㅛ, ㅜ, ㅠ, ㅡ, ㅣ.


The order of the double vowels in Hangul is

ㅐ, ㅒ, ㅔ, ㅖ, ㅘ, ㅙ, ㅚ, ㅝ, ㅞ, ㅟ, ㅢ,

where the sound of combining two basic vowels is produced.
